The First Step

Contact us and we will arrange for our surveyor to visit you free of charge within Essex, whereby we can discuss

your requirements. We will measure your loft and advise you upon the feasibility of your project and the best way to use your space. Following our visit we will provide you with a free written quotation.

Planning

You will be pleased to know that most loft conversions do not need planning permission. If however, your plans are slightly more ambitious and you have already consulted an architect, we will be only too pleased to work alongside them.

Building Regulations and Party Wall agreements

All work of this nature is covered by building regulations. We will make the necessary submissions to the local authorities. The local building inspectors are there to make sure that any extensions are built to current regulations. It is our job to make sure that we build your new room in line with these regulations and you will benefit from a safer and warmer home.

Timescale

Most lofts can be completed in six weeks and can be broken down into the following sections: Weeks 1 and 2: The Scaffold goes up and the main structure is built. Week 3: All your electrical and plumbing first fix is carried out. Insulation is installed. Week 4: The stairs, floor and plasterboard are installed. Week 5: Plastering takes place. Week 6: Second fix electrics, plumbing, and carpentry work are completed. The scaffold comes down everything is cleaned and all building waste is taken from your property.

Noise and Mess

We understand that this is your home and we want the building process to be an exciting time for you. Additionally we want you to recommend us to your friends. With this in mind we try to access your loft during the build from our scaffold. We also put dust sheets down and hoover every night. We also like to be considerate to your neighbours and try to disturb them as little as possible.

Management

You will have a project manager on site everyday. He will be happy to discuss any developments with you. As we arrive at eight every day, most people find it convenient to discuss their development first thing in the morning.
